Just for Fun
Did You Know?
"When scientists put kangaroos on treadmills, they discovered that
kangaroos maintain a constant number of hops per minute. Regardless of how much the treadmill speeds up, they simply take longer and longer hops.
"A mother platypus typically lays two eggs. The eggs cling to the mother's fur on her belly. Though the mother produces milk, she doesn't
suckle her babies. Instead, the milk oozes out of the glands onto the mother's fur. The babies then lick it off."
"A male koala has a scent gland on its chest that comes in contact with trees as it climbs and "marks" its territory. Male koalas try to
avoid one another but sometimes fight over territory."
"Lyrebirds are capable of imitating almost any sound. Mixed in with their own calls, clicks and song, you will usually hear them mimicking loud
clear sounds made by other birds and mammals – including humans. They have been heard to mimic the sounds of chainsaws, horns, alarms and even trains."
